The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday reported five new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total to 18,165.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 19)- The country on Monday recorded 9,628 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 945,745.
The latest bulletin by the Department of Health showed that active cases account for 141,375 or 14.9% of the total cases, It added that 96.9% are tagged as mild cases, 1.5% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are severe cases, 0.5% are in critical condition, and 0.43% are moderate.
The DOH also logged 88 new deaths, pushing the number of fatalities to 16,048. It said that 19 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after validation.
Meanwhile, the number of survivors increased to 788,322 after 9,266 more patients recovered. The DOH removed 16 duplicates from the total case count, wherein nine are recoveries.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 19) - The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday confirmed that a Filipino seafarer was found dead on a beach in Vanuatu, a country of some 80 islands in the South Pacific.
“Yes, it was in the local news there that a Filipino crew member was discovered missing from the foreign vessel as it left Vanuatu. Shortly, the body was found on the beach,” said Ivy Banzon-Abalos, the DFA s executive director for strategic communications, in a message to reporters.
However, Banzon-Abalos said they have yet to verify reports that the seafarer was found to have been infected with the coronavirus.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs Brigido Dulay met newly-appointed French Ambassador to the Philippines Michèle Boccoz at the Department of Foreign Affairs on April 13.
“Undersecretary Dulay and Ambassador Boccoz reaffirmed the close ties between the Philippines and France, stronger cooperation in the areas of defense, maritime, business and investments, and health,” the DFA said on Friday.
The two diplomats likewise discussed the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, particularly the Philippine government’s vaccination program and France’s contribution to the COVAX Facility, the global pooled procurement mechanism for COVID-19 vaccines led by the World Health Organization (WHO).
