Washington, July 9 : Initial unemployment claims in the US increased to 373,000 last week, after hitting the lowest level since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Labour Department reported.
In the week ending July 3, the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits increased by 2,000 from the previous week s upwardly revised level of 371,000, according to a report released on Thursday by the Department s Bureau of Labour Statistics.
The four-week moving average, a method to iron out data volatility, edged down by 250 to 394,500, Xinhua news agency quoted the report as saying.
