Tulsa Churches Look To Learn, Educate About Race Massacre: ‘A Constant Journey To Reconciliation’ Nearly 100 years after the 1921 Race Massacre, Tulsa is still dealing with the remnants of a racial divide. Some leaders want to help educate people about the history of Greenwood and the horrors of the massacre, in hopes of helping the community move forward. There is something about where we are now as a country that people are saying, Yeah, we have got to do something different, Phil Armstrong said. We can t keep going forward the way that we are now. Armstrong is a project manager for the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission.
