Northland college commencements will be virtual or modified

For the second year in a row, most Northland colleges will hold their commencement ceremonies virtually, so University of Minnesota Duluth student John Rosas Ramirez invited his parents up from the Twin Cities to a mock grad walk event so they could take part in a small moment of in-person celebration.

The lights went down, the band played the start of Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” and then there was Elvis Presley, in a jumpsuit, of course, on the stage at the Duluth Arena Auditorium.
The April 29, 1977, concert was his second show here in a year and the last he would play for this maxed-out audience.
Spring 2021 Duluth Junk Hunt is Coming to the DECC
Duluth Junk Hunt announced Wednesday that not only will there be a spring event this month but they ve rented two arenas, so the it will be bigger than ever while allowing space for social distancing for both vendors and shoppers.
The spring 2021 Duluth Junk Hunt will take place from Thursday, April 29 through Saturday, May 1 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. They made the big announcement on the official Duluth Junk Hunt Facebook page.
Shopping hours for the event will be as follows:
Thursday, April 29th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

It was a band that holds the metaphorical key to the city that played one of the last large-scale events in this region before everything was locked down in mid-March 2020.
Wilco’s concert was at Symphony Hall and, according to reviewer Tony Bennett, opened with “Bright Leaves,” featured a solo by Nils Cline “at times playing speedy jazz-rock runs … and at other times letting loose with atonal smears of color and behind the bridge squalls,” and had a guest appearance from Low’s Alan Sparhawk, known friend of the band.
