Family files federal lawsuit against City of Seattle
The family of Lorenzo Anderson has filed a lawsuit against the City of Seattle for what they say creating a dangerous environment last summer in CHOP.
SEATTLE - The family of a 19-year-old who was shot and killed in Seattle s CHOP zone last summer has filed a wrongful death suit against the city.
The lawsuit, filed by Herrmann Law Group on behalf of Lorenzo Anderson s mother, claims Seattle officials created a dangerous environment and failed to assist Anderson after he was shot. It comes more than six months after Anderson s mother Donnitta Sinclair filed the same claim with the city.
The estate of a man shot in the head and mortally wounded by a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy after a high-speed chase that ended near Port Orchard is suing, alleging the deputy used excessive force.
Brent Lee Heath, 35, died on Oct. 3, 2018, a year after Deputy Carl M. Shanks shot him at the conclusion of a 12-mile police chase that started on the Key Peninsula in Pierce County on Sept. 21, 2017.
Heath’s death had not been previously reported.
An investigation by the Kitsap Critical Incident Response Team, led by Bremerton police, found the Acura that Heath was driving, which was stopped and had been surrounded by police near Olney Avenue SE and Beach Drive, had been disabled by spike strips.
