Dogs seized this month in an animal cruelty investigation in Tacoma are now up for adoption.
The 23 dogs were seized from Elmer Givens Jr.’s property March 3. Givens was charged with 75 counts of animal cruelty-related charges stemming from two previous search warrants where dozens of animals were seized from Givens’ property.

The dogs, which range from seven weeks to five years old, have been spayed or neutered and received additional medical care, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

An empty runaway barge smashed into three waterfront homes Monday in Gig Harbor, according to officials.
At about 7:30 a.m., residents of a house on the 9500 block of Sunrise Beach Drive NW had the sound of crunching wood ring through the neighborhood. According to U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Trevor Lilburn, the barge floated away from its owners as it was passing Sunrise Beach. No injuries were reported.
One house s dock was being stabilized by a technical rescue team because of the amount of damage done to it. The Coast Guard, Pierce County Sheriff s Office and Gig Harbor Fire Department all provided support after it was reported.

Sergeant Darren Moss said the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the incident around 8 a.m. The damaged homes are on the 9500 block of Sunrise Beach Drive NW.
The Gig Harbor Fire Department tweeted the barge ran aground when it struck the homes. No injuries or pollution were reported.
