Wei-Ling Hsu of Chinese Taipei made an eagle on the 15th hole to overtake playing partner Moriya Jutanugarn on the leaderboard and went on to win the Pure Silk Championship in Williamsburg, Va., for her first career LPGA Tour victory.
Jutanugarn, of Thailand, carded a double bogey on the same hole at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort. In one four-stroke swing, Hsu went from trailing Jutanugarn by two to leading her by the same margin.
Hsu birdied No. 16 for good measure and scored a final-round 68 to finish 13-under 271 (66-72-65-68). Jutanugarn took second at 11 under (71-67-65-70), and American Jessica Korda was alone in third at 10 under (70-67-67-70).
She was mistaken.

âAt 15, … I thought about myself, that I’ve been waiting for seven years. I don’t want to wait any, moreâ a tearful Hsu said on the green after securing the victory with a par.
Later, after some time to let it soak in?
âI think this is the happiest day ever. How do you cry?â she said. âAnd somehow, I just cried so hard the last hole, but I feel happy. Just happy.â
Jutanugarn had a 70. Jessica Korda was third at 10 under after a 70.
Brooke Henderson (67) of Smiths Falls, Ont., finished in a tie for 10th place at 6 under. Alena Sharp (71) of Hamilton, Ont., was at 1 under.
Shu’s eagle, aided by a fortuitous bounce that left her with a very makeable putt, came as Jutanugarn, who started the hole with a two-shot lead, drove into a bunker, needed two shots to get out, hit her approach to the edge of the green and three-putted for a double bogey.
And it all happened on the easiest hole on the course, again showing it can also be the decisive one.
