City Hall Milford, DE
Milford City Council at a workshop prior to their meeting on April 12, began a review of capital improvement projects in the city for FY22 through FY26. Council discussed projects for electric, water, sewer, solid waste and public works. Due to the length of the workshop, council postponed discussion of projects for streets, City Hall, IT, police and Parks & Recreation until a later date.
“I want to remind council that this is a plan and that we don’t want to get too hung up on the dollar amounts at this time,” Lou Vitola, Chief Financial Officer for the city, said. “Congress is looking at bills for infrastructure and there is the America Rescue Plan Act that could provide us with additional funding. We have also heard there may be additional streams of funding for some of these projects.”
ONTARIO
We may not have to worry about a stuck cargo ship on the Snake River blocking trade traffic locally and to our region, but it was that recent situation in the Suez Canal that got Mayor Riley Hill thinking outside the box about access into Ontario. And after mulling it over as a group, the council decided to have Ontario Community Development Director Dan Cummings look into the transportation master plan to see what it would take to get another route into Ontario.
This and other infrastructure projects topped a long list of discussion and action items at the Ontario City Councilâs work session on April 8.
PENDLETON â The soft opening for the motel formerly known as The Whiskey Inn began on a sidewalk on Southeast Second Street.
About a half-dozen of Pendletonâs unhoused residents gathered Thursday, April 1, across the street in front of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, where Paula Hall, the chief executive officer of the Community Action Program of East Central Oregon, explained why the new homeless shelter and transitional housing project had been renamed the Promise Inn.
âWe are making a promise to the homeless population and a promise to the community that we are going to keep this as an asset,â she said.
