With a Spring 2021 enrollment of 5,010 students, Southeastern has recorded its highest-ever total for a spring semester. That tops the previous record for a spring semester of 4,744 in 2020. It also represents an enrollment increase of 5.6% over last spring.
Student Credit Hours also increased 3.3% compared to last spring.
And all of this comes after the University enrolled 5,339 students in Fall 2020 – the most ever since the school opened in 1909.
Even more impressive is the fact that this dramatic growth has occurred during the midst of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University Center of Southern Oklahoma Board of Trustees has a new partner to facilitate communication with three schools who have a footprint on the Ardmore campus.
The board last week approved the hire of Andre Moore as a liaison between them and representatives from Langston University, Murray State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
“I think the partners really want to do what’s necessary here and that communications have to be maintained. That will be by role: making sure that communication is consistent and maintained,” Moore said after Thursday’s board meeting.
The board voted to hire Moore on a part-time basis with a $2,500 monthly salary. The vote retroactively approved the job offer dating back to Jan. 1.

Six years ago this month, along Interstate 40 east of Shawnee, a distracted driver struck and killed Trooper Nicholas Dees while he investigated an accident scene.
In the years since that tragedy, what happened that night has prompted more awareness about distracted driving, including presentations at high schools locally and across the state, as well as passage of a new state law.
And through the end of this month, as a way to honor Trooper Dees, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and partnering agencies are conducting special emphasis enforcement campaigns focusing on distracted driving violations or signs of inattentive driving.
