The Southeast Polk Community School District has hired three new principals who will take over next school year for retiring principals at Altoona, Delaware and Four Mile elementary schools.
Morgan Miller will succeed Steve Stotts as principal at Altoona Elementary. Miller is currently the principal at North Polk Community School District s Central Elementary in Alleman.
At Delaware Elementary, Chelsea Clark will follow Kevin Walker as principal. Clark is the Spring Creek 6th grade center school administration manager and has been with Southeast Polk schools since 2019.

Tamera Steenhoek will be the new principal at Four Mile, succeeding Randy Mohning. Steenhoek is the district s pre-K-12 language arts coordinator and has held that role since 2012.

GILBERT – Angie Bonthuis has a passion for teaching young learners a work ethic that hasn’t gone unnoticed by her peers and students’ families.
Bonthuis has been named a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She has taught kindergarten at Gilbert Elementary School for the past 21 years. Previously, she taught preschool at Southeast Webster Community School in Dayton.
A native of Coon Rapids, she and her family relocated to Waverly her senior year of high school.
“Our neighbor was a preschool teacher and she got me into that,” Bonthuis said of her career pathway.
