UPDATE: Police say a medical event may have contributed to the early Friday crash.
A driver was killed in a single-vehicle roll-over crash that closed Southeast Powell Boulevard on Friday, Jan. 8.
Policde said the was a 73-year-old man from Happy Valley. There are indications that a medical event may have contributed to the crash.
No other person was injured in the crash, which also destroyed a TriMet stop.
According to police, 5:47 a.m. Friday, Central Precinct officers responded to a crash on Powell at Southeast 24th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had rolled over.
Portland Fire & Rescue paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but the driver was determined to be dead.

24 December Officer Jennifer Pierce. was injured when a person hit her with a stolen pickup truck in the gas station lot in the 3900 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard on December 24, 2020, is Officer Pierce, a 15-year veteran, suffered a fractured pelvis and is still in the hospital.

On December 23, 2020, North Precinct officers responded to t reports of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who had escaped to safety in a nearby neighbor’s apartment. Officers learned the victim had been stabbed in the temple with a knife but expected to survive.
4 Portland shootings in one night leave 2 victims injured and a lot of questions

Blood, shell casings, bullet holes and spit were much of what was left after a spate of Saturday night shootings in Portland, each occurring within three hours and 10 miles’ drive of one another.
The shootings began around 8:30 p.m. and ended around 11:20 p.m. Police say they don’t know if the shootings are related. Two people were injured, one seriously. Now, the Portland Police Bureau is asking for help finding the perpetrators, requesting that anyone with information call the bureau.
It started around 8:30 p.m. near Northeast 82nd Avenue and Glisan Street.
Two wounded in four shootings in one day
The surge in Portland shootings continued on Saturday, Dec. 26, in different parts of town.

The names and conditions of the victims were not immediately released. No suspect information was immediately released either.
So far this year, police have investigated more homicides than in almost three decades and more than 850 shootings, which is more than double the number reported in 2019.
According to police, the first investigation of the day began at 8:37 p.m. on Dec. 26 when officers from the East Precinct responded to the area of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street on a shots fired call. When they arrived, officers found evidence of a shooting near the location. A short time later, a 15-year old female walked into an area hospital with a gunshot wound, which was non-life-threatening.
