Vancouver police officers responded to three crashes overnight Tuesday, including one fatal wreck, all involving vehicles driving into light poles.
The fatal crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. on Northeast 112th Avenue at Chkalov Drive, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.
A 79-year-old driver was southbound on 112th Avenue, near where the street becomes Chkalov Drive, when he left the roadway and struck a metal light pole, Kapp said.
The man, who was not identified by police, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and pronounced dead. Traffic unit investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the crash.

The city of Vancouver is reviving a program that provides grant funding for road projects that slow traffic in residential areas after taking a pause in a volatile 2020.
The Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program will allocate an estimated $300,000 to competitive grant applications in 2021. It was suspended last year due to COVID-19 and a since-overturned voter initiative that would have stripped the city of a portion of its transportation funds.
