Snowplows too expensive for Maury County’s future, commissioners say
The Daily Herald
It would cost Maury County an estimated $1.5 million dollars to outfit the local highway department with the equipment needed to keep the region’s roads clear of snow.
Disused during this month s county safety committee meeting, the conversation followed a wave of severe winter weather that left local schools closed and caused several emergencies across the region last month.
Maury County Roads Superintendent Van Boshers said even if the county purchased 14 plows for each of the department’s trucks, an investment of more than $350,000, the local department would not be able to keep the county’s 300 miles of asphalt roads clear during a winter storm.
