(WALB) - The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has arrived at the Dougherty County Health Department, but it’s still in limited supply. Dr. Charles Ruis, director of the Southwest Health District, took the vaccine Monday in Dougherty County. He said he didn’t have much notice before he was sitting in the vaccination seat. “We were thinking, it’s logical. We need to give it to ourselves. We need to lean on each other you may say,” said Ruis.

And I am happy to say I am upright. I had a little bit of left shoulder soreness but otherwise, I feel great. And my shoulder is not sore anymore. So, I haven’t had any other ill effects. (WALB) - After an uptick in COVID-19 cases post-Thanksgiving, Dougherty County Jail staff said they’re doing their part to prevent more cases this Christmas. “We have remained a COVID-free facility until this week. We did have a small outbreak of COVID-19 in our general population. We have had, now, seven inmates that have tested positive for COVID-19, all in the same housing area,” said John Ostrander, chief jailer for the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office.
