Gov. J.B. Pritzker visited Heartland s campus Wednesday to announce that Heartland was one of two community colleges to receive the grant, part of the Rebuild Illinois capital plan. The other is Southwestern Illinois College in Metro East. I was just thrilled about the opportunity to partner with Heartland, Pritzker said during a press conference, calling it a day when we ought to be celebrating new jobs and new opportunity in our state.

HCC and Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville will begin enrolling students in their new specialized manufacturing programs for the fall semester.

BELLEVILLE Southwestern Illinois College will receive a $7.5 million state grant to create a new high-skills training academy.
On Wednesday Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced a $15 million capital investment through the Rebuild Illinois capital plan to establish manufacturing training academies at SWIC and Heartland Community College in Peoria.
Pritzker said the academies will provide hundreds of Illinois residents the opportunity to develop specialized skills for advanced manufacturing careers. The programs will begin enrolling students in the fall of 2022.
