New confirmed cases of COVID-19 climbed slightly in southwestern Utah last week.
There were 207 new confirmed cases across the southwest health district in the week that ended Friday, up from the 201 counted the previous week but still down dramatically from earlier in the year. It marks the first week-over-week increase since cases started dropping in late January.
The district also counted four new deaths over the course of the week, bringing the regionwide total to 263 since the pandemic began. There were another 10 residents still hospitalized with COVID-19.

Despite more people getting vaccinated as a statewide rollout accelerated, new COVID-19 case counts continued to hold steady in southwest Utah over the past week.
There were 201 new confirmed cases across the southwest health district in the week that ended Friday, slightly fewer than the 206 counted the previous week and down dramatically from earlier in the year. The number also represented the lowest number for a single week since last summer.
