President Randy L Beutler Endowment Established at SWOSU

By News Director Jared Atha Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford and Sayre has announced the establishment of the President Randy L. Beutler Endowment. The endowment will provide financial assistance in perpetuity to SWOSU students, faculty and programs in honor of outgoing SWOSU President Randy L. Beutler. Beutler plans to retire at the end of June. The SWOSU Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees, along with a generous group of over 70 preliminary underwriters from throughout Oklahoma and the United States, have already contributed almost $80,000 to the endowment it was also announced that the public is now invited to contribute to help the fund exceed $100,000, with each contribution to be recognized personally by President Beutler.

Local SWOSU Students Do Well At Business Competition

By News Director Jared Atha Phi Beta Lambda, a Southwestern Oklahoma State University student organization in Weatherford dedicated to business leadership, recently competed in the college division of the Oklahoma Future Business Leaders of America virtual State Leadership Conference and saw students with western Oklahoma ties take home top honors. SWOSU was represented by nine students from the Everett Dobson School of Business & Technology and competed in 18 events. SWOSU students were crowned state champions in 12 events and had placers in multiple events. Sophomore marketing student Randi Lee Troglin of Mountain View was elected as a representative to the Oklahoma Executive Leadership Team in a position to be named later.

Seven-time PRCA Clown of the Year to entertain at Lehi Round-up – Lehi Free Press

Many Lehi Round-up Rodeo fans are still mourning the passing of beloved Lecile Harris, the salty but hilarious rodeo clown who entertained rodeo goers for more than two decades. The daunting task of finding a replacement has taken almost a year. Still, the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo Committee has found who they believe is a great replacement, Justin (“Rumpshaker”) Rumford. Rumford, whose arena moniker is “Rumpshaker,” has been named Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) “Clown of the Year” for the last seven years. He has also been honored with the PRCA Coors “Man in the Can” award in 2013, 2015, and 2018. Rumford, who lives in Ponca City, Oklahoma, is a former 275 lb. linebacker who played football in high school. A native of Kansas, he grew up in a rodeo family and competed in junior high, high school and college rodeo. Rumford was a full-time steer wrestler until suffering a severe knee injury. While he recovered, he worked as an assistant rodeo coach at Southwes
