Why Did God Give Us Four Gospels? Dr. Roger Barrier Preach It, Teach It 2021 12 Jan
Dear Roger,
I’ve always wondered, why did God give us four Gospels? And why are they different in some places?
Sincerely,
Dear Bob,
Imagine four people on four different street corners who simultaneously witness the same automobile accident. We know that their descriptions will not match because each one saw from a different perspective.
“We now know that four observers standing on the same corner will not see the same thing. The brain is not like a tape recorder. It observes the high points of what it sees and fills in what it assumes happened between the high points. The brain is quite unreliable for deciphering exactly what happened.”
In the crowd of insurrectionists who seized the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Christian imagery was rife. Alongside Confederate flags and white supremacist symbols, protesters shouldered crosses, waved “Jesus Saves” signs, and hung oversized “Jesus 2020” banners. One rioter who made it inside the building carried a “Christian flag.” Outside, on the National Mall, people chanted, “Christ is king.” As the reporter Jack Jenkins noted, some in the crowd referred to the neo-fascist Proud Boys as “God’s warriors.”

There was no denying the religious right’s role in Wednesday’s events. In the aftermath, many evangelical leaders condemned the violence rarely to a warm reception. Prominent Donald Trump supporters who offered stronger denunciations of the events were met with accusations of “too little, too late” from liberals and charges of abandoning their president and their principles from conservatives. And not all leaders took that tack: A smalle
How To Attract 7,000 Dallas Shoppers on a Saturday
Even in a down economy, the Moon family has found the formula for retail success.
Walk into the Sam Moon Trading Co. off Harry Hines Boulevard near the intersection of LBJ and I-35E on any given weekend, and prepare for bedlam. No, strike that. Walk into Sam Moon most any day of the week and experience bedlam.
As many as 3,000 shoppers pack Moon’s main retail store every Monday through Friday, a number that leaps to 7,000 on Saturdays (the store is closed Sundays). In addition to the individual shoppers, tour buses 12 to 24 deep pull continuously into the store’s parking lot and engorge mainly female members of church groups, civic clubs, and assisted living communities from east, west, north, and south of Dallas, credit cards and cash in hand, eager to pounce on Moon’s latest deals.
What does the Bible say about your health?
After a challenging year, insight from scripture can help improve mental, physical, and spiritual health in 2021
DALLAS Millions of people mark the new year by setting goals for the coming 12 months, and Jim Denison – co-founder of Denison Forum, pastor, author and digital-ministry leader – has teamed with nutrition and mental health experts to explore how the Bible’s model for mental, physical and spiritual health can help.
“Over a third of Americans will make New Year’s resolutions, but only 8 percent are likely to keep them,” Denison said. “What the Bible says about mental, physical and spiritual health can help you beat the odds and end 2021 in a better place.”
