RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA For the second time in a week, the Riverside County Sheriff s Department has announced a homicide arrest linked to a fentanyl death.
A man and a 16-year-old girl were found unresponsive at a residence in the 35000 block of Sugar Maple Street in French Valley around 7:04 p.m. Wednesday. Both people were hospitalized for suspected fentanyl poisoning, but the girl did not survive, according to sheriff s Sgt. Rick Espinoza.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA A Mission Viejo man suspected of shooting toward an off-duty police department employee on the Ortega Highway near Lake Elsinore has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol announced.
Keith Frederick Prante, 34, was taken into custody by the CHP at 8 a.m. Sunday at his home on Los Altos, jail records show. He remained jailed late Monday afternoon at Murrieta s Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and brandishing a firearm. He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

PERRIS, CA A teacher at Perris High School remained jailed Friday following his arrest Thursday into allegations of lewd acts with children.
Gerardo Regalado, 29, was taken into custody at 4 p.m. at the Perris Sheriff s Station. According to jail records, he was booked into Murrieta s Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of sodomy by force, oral copulation by force on a minor under 14, sending harmful material, and annoying/molesting a child under 18.
He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, the jail records show.

The investigation into Regalado began Jan. 22 when deputies went to the high school regarding allegations that the teacher had committed lewd acts with a child during a period between 2013 and 2016, according to sheriff s Sgt. John Burke.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA A raid by sheriff s deputies at a Lake Elsinore smog shop Wednesday turned up drugs, a gun and a large amount of cash that led to the arrest of one man, according to the Riverside County Sheriff s Department.
Around 4 p.m., sheriff s deputies out of the Lake Elsinore station served a search warrant at the shop located in the 16500 block of Lakeshore Drive. During the investigation, approximately 3 ounces of heroin, one handgun, a large sum of U.S. currency and other indicia of sales of narcotics were found, according to Sgt. Jeff Reese.

MORENO VALLEY, CA A trucker accused of opening fire on a motorist in Moreno Valley and fleeing into the Coachella Valley with a young girl in his rig made his initial court appearance Wednesday, but did not enter a plea.
Abdi J. Reynaldo, 32, of Florida was arrested last Thursday and faces one count each of attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle and wilful child cruelty, along with two counts of assault with a gun.
The defendant appeared before Riverside County Superior Court Judge O.G. Magno, who rescheduled his arraignment for Feb. 1 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
