The Florida Department of Health-Lee and Lee County government announced there is enough vaccine supply to schedule around 2,500 appointments for Friday at the county’s site near Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), according to a Lee County press release.
The appointment line opened at 9 a.m. Wednesday and all appointments were filled by 10:35 a.m.
When those with appointments arrive, a Florida Driver License or Florida Identification Card will be required, or two additional documents. Visit Lee County’s vaccine webpage for examples of acceptable documents. The county and its partners, FDOH-Lee and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, anticipate the site will run expeditiously.

UPDATE: Vaccine appointment reservation line now closed
By LEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT - | Jan 20, 2021
All 5,800 available appointments for this week at the Florida Department of Health-Lee and Lee County vaccination site were claimed today within minutes of the reservation call line opening, officials reported at about 10 a.m.
The call line opened at 9 a.m. as scheduled. The appointments for Thursday and Friday were filled when that happened. People can stop calling the reservation line now.
Representatives of the vendor, Tidal Basin, reported that people who called were either scheduled for appointments while on the line, or prompted to leave their contact information to receive a call back. Once all slots were filled, some callers received a message that appointments were no longer available. Some callers received a busy signal.
This story has been updated with the latest count of participating Publix pharmacies, now in 20 Florida counties.
Gov. Ron DeSantis hopscotched across Florida on Tuesday to announce an expanded partnership with the Publix grocery store chain to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to seniors and front-line medical workers closer to where they live.
The idea, the governor said during a midday stop outside a Publix in Cape Coral, is to expand access for seniors who may have a difficult time navigating Department of Health-operated call-in registration systems and getting to centralized vaccine centers. In Lee County, for instance, the vaccination center is near the Southwest Florida International Airport.
