Republican state Sen. Dennis Kruse is opposed to public health measures like requiring employees to get vaccines in the midst of the COVID pandemic. He wants to stop employersâ and government interference. âItâs my body,â he says. He doesnât believe government should be in charge of health care.
I entirely agree the government shouldnât interfere with my body in situations that have no bearing on public health. How very hypocritical it is then that Kruse and other Indiana legislators, most of them Republican, oppose a womanâs right to make decisions about her body. In those cases, he believes itâs perfectly appropriate for the government to put stumbling blocks between a woman and her right to choose to terminate a pregnancy.
Southwestern Michigan College President Joe Odenwald has received a positive performance review from the SMC Board of Trustees. During a meeting this past week, the board gave Odenwald what Chair Thomas Jerdon described as an A+. Jerdon said during the COVID pandemic, Odenwald has “managed the institution with tremendous financial responsibility, stewarding the taxpayers’ resources with utmost care.” He says the SMC president has been transparent while growing the college. Each trustee anonymously and individually completed a questionnaire that rated Odenwald in six different categories. They were operations, leadership skills, communications, board relations, internal relations, and external relations.
