Centers for Living and Rehabilitation residents and staff in Bennington get vaccine

Vermont Business Magazine The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which has received emergency use authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration, arrived at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation (CLR), part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), Tuesday. The vaccine was administered by Walgreens Pharmacy. This is the first of three clinics that will be held to ensure that the entire staff and resident population receives two shots, as is recommended to achieve immunity.

SVMC to hold COVID-19 panel discussion with first vaccine recipients Tuesday

The session will feature SVMC’s Chief Medical Officer Trey Dobson, MD; Marie George, MD; Ann Marie Swann, MD; and Patricia Johnson, RN. All four received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, December 16. The Chamber’s Executive Director Matthew Harrington will moderate. The guests will answer questions about their experience throughout the pandemic; how it felt, both physically and emotionally, to be the first of SVMC’s staff to receive the shot; and if they experienced any side effects. They will detail when individuals in region should expect to receive the vacc

North Adams Planners OK Urgent Care Center, Head Start Move

  The Planning Board on Monday approved the change of use for 856 and 858 State Road, with members Chairman Michael Leary and Lawrence Taft abstaining.   Brent Johnson of Midland General Contractors Inc. based in Rockford, Ill., said ClearChoice is a retail medical office that does everything from sprains, full on-site X-rays, bruises, stitches, cold, coughs, everything you would see in an urgent care.   According to its website, ClearChoiceMD offers walk-in services seven days a week from 8 to 8 for minor injuries and illnesses such as strains and sprains, stitches, allergies and infections, as well as COVID-19 testing. The centers have more recently been closed on Sundays. 

SVHC is high bidder for college campus

Like us on Facebook.   BENNINGTON — Southwestern Vermont Health Care outbid youth camp operator Moshe Perlstein and businessman Paul Belogour on Friday to purchase the former Southern Vermont College campus for $4,650,000. The bidding process took place during a late morning videoconference hearing before Judge Colleen Brown in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The session involved about two dozen higher bids being offered before the remaining alternate bidder, Perlstein, said, I m out,” leaving only SVHC. Belogour and his Vermont RE Development, LCC, had stopped bidding when the offers reached $3.95 million. Perlstein and SVHC kept raising the bid by the required $50,000 increments until the price reached $4.35 million, at which point Perlstein asked for a five-minute recess.
