HEALTH chiefs have advised people to have a Covid-19 test if they are displaying certain symptoms – after cases of a new variant of the virus were found in St Helens and the region. Sue Forster, St Helens director of public health, issued a statement today explaining that there are other symptoms – additional to the three traditional symptoms – that people should look out for. The three main signs of Covid-19 are a high temperature, a persistent cough or a loss of smell or taste. But there are other symptoms that have been reported by people who have tested positive. Ms Forster said these are: a persistent headache, diarrhoea, fever and chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, sore throat, congestion or runny nose and nausea or vomiting.
