£5 million boost for local authorities to tackle air pollution Air Quality Grants awarded across England to fund local projects for cleaner air From: 9 March 2021 Local authorities across England have been granted more than £5 million in government funding to deliver innovative projects to improve air quality. The money, from the government’s Air Quality Grant, helps councils develop and implement measures to benefit schools, businesses and communities and reduce the impact of dirty air on people’s health. More than double the funding awarded in 2020 has been made available for this year’s grant, meaning a raft of particularly strong applications are being supported.

Peter Boros complained to the council last year because it was set to process the developer’s application without a full flood risk assessment and, he claims, only changed tack when the scale of opposition became apparent. Mr Boros says the proposal was so different from what was agreed in 2018 that the council should have demanded a full planning application, which would have given residents more time to respond.

Household waste fly-tip has angry locals turning detective ANGRY residents have turned detective to track down fly-tippers who abandoned their houshold waste in the middle of a housing development.  South Oxfordshire District Council officers are on the hunt for the offenders behind the pile of rubbish on a grass verge at Greenfinch Road, Didcot. The six bags of waste at Great Western Park included beauty products, sweet tubs and a Facebook photo frame. One Wantage resident Susan Leake advised the council to do a reverse image search on the photo in the frame. Another Val Berry advised to go through the trash in case there is a bill or a receipt in there.
