Brisbane, Jan 8 : Australia s third largest city of Brisbane entered a three-day lockdown on Friday after a local resident was found to be infected with the mutant strain of the novel coronavirus.
According to the Health Department of Queensland state, where the city is located, the Greater Brisbane area entered lockdown from 6 p.m. until 6 p.m. on January 11.
Local residents can only leave home for essential purposes including buying essentials like groceries or medication, working or studying if not able to do so from home, exercising and healthcare or providing care.
International passenger caps will be halved in three states and all passengers, including on domestic flights, will have to wear masks as part of new protocols agreed to by National Cabinet.
