Connor Mayall: YMCA Mike Chianakas Award Winner

CANTON Connor Mayall received the 2020 Canton Family YMCA Mike Chianakas Outstanding Youth Award for boys. This award is given annually to young athletes who exhibit athletic ability, Christian character, sportsmanship and exemplary YMCA participation. Connor has been a long time member of the Y and was very involved in many of the Y’s programs. In 2005, he started attending the Y’s preschool program. He participated in tumbling & trampoline, swim lessons, youth soccer and basketball. He continued playing soccer and basketball throughout his elementary school years. In 2016 Connor was hired as a YMCA summer camp counselor.

Gov. Pritzker Announces Nine Appointments to Illinois Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration:
ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION
Christine Benson will continue to serve on the Illinois State Board of Education. For about six years, Benson served as the Superintendent of Streator Elementary School District #44. Previously, she was the Superintendent of the Ottawa Elementary School District #141 and the Mendota TWP High School District #280. Additionally, Benson spent twenty years as a teacher in areas of general, choral and instrumental music. Benson is active in her community where she serves as the Treasurer and past President of the Rotary Club. She received her Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Science in Education Administration and her Certificate of Advance Study in Education Adminis
Stacie Petter
January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention month, highlighting a complex problem that challenges communities close to home and around the world. Stacie Petter, the Ben H. Williams Professor of Information Systems and Business Analytics, uniquely applies her discipline to combat trafficking and slavery. In this Baylor Connections, Petter shares information systems’ role in that fight and explains how a grant from the National Science Foundation will help equip law enforcement with resources to identify and prosecute trafficking in their area.
