George Reisch admitted that his dad s birthday is always an emotional time for him.
Reisch s father was Edward L. Reisch, the last brewmaster of Springfield Reisch Brewing Co., who died in July 2019.
George Reisch, who now lives in Wildwood, Missouri, was to be in Springfield Tuesday night to accept a Springfield City Council proclamation declaring March 1 Edward L. Reisch Day.
The day marks what would have been his 102nd birthday. To have this proclamation means a lot to the family, said George Reisch earlier Tuesday. I m just very grateful to Mayor (Jim) Langfelder and (city spokeswoman) Julia (Frevert).
A seventh batch of the iconic Reisch Gold Top will arrive at area wholesalers around the end of February, Reisch said. The beer, which is brewed at Potosi Brewing Co. in Potosi, Wisconsin, returned to the market in January 2019 after a 53-year absence.
