Two Illinois nuclear power plants, Byron and Dresden, are due for premature closure this year. The two plants are licensed to operate for another 10 to 20 years, but have been slated for closure in September and November. Illinois lawmakers must act, and act now, to prevent this.
Last year, Gov. Pritzker advocated for the passage of a comprehensive energy bill to put Illinois on a course for a carbon-free power industry, and importantly, 90% of Illinois’ clean energy is currently produced by nuclear power. Byron alone generates enough power for more than 2.3 million homes.
A new comedy musical USUCC: An Original Zoomsical will premiere on Youtube on February 12th.
This Zoom-musical tells the story of an adjunct university professor, who finds herself facing a mutiny from her students after the school moves online. She questions what it means to be a teacher when she is forced to make a choice between taking care of herself and taking care of her students.
The project was filmed remotely, entirely on mobile phones with minimal additional equipment. The actors worked across many roles in addition to their parts on screen: filming, recording music, adjusting camera angles, and even lighting.
EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois (KMOV) A Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville student from Chicago died after being shot near campus.
Illinois State Police officials said the 26-year-old student was shot while driving on the ramp from Rte. 157 to Interstate 270 on Jan. 14. According to several of Moneer Damra’s friends, he had just been picked up from the airport and was headed back to campus when he was shot. The driver was able to get back to campus and call 911, while paramedics worked to keep Damra alive.
Damra was then rushed to a hospital for treatment. On Jan. 27, SIUE announced that the nursing student had died of his injuries.

Your groin is the perfect incubator for unpleasant smells: It’s hot, humid, and tucked beneath layers of clothing. So sometimes, it s just not going to smell so great.
If you re talking run-of-the mill not smell so great, chances are, you re fine and can make a few tweaks in what you re doing or what you re wearing to keep your penis from smelling. But if you re having discharge and a strong, unpleasant smell, check with a doctor; it could signal a sexually transmitted infection like gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Happy Thursday, Illinois. Instead of looking back at Lincoln or FDR for inspiration on how to handle the moment we’re in, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel writes that Teddy Roosevelt’s term is more fitting.
