April 24, 2021 Fairfield Memorial Hospital weekly updates on the Expansion Project: During the week of April 19th, the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical contractors are still working on the in wall and ceiling installation portion of their work. The drywall contractors are mudding and finishing up on the third floor. The waterproofing contractor will be waterproofing around the windows on all elevations and the metal panels will continue being installed on the north elevation. During the week of April 26th, the painting contractor will start priming and painting the 3rd floor. The mechanical, plumbing, and electrical contractors are still working on the in-wall and ceiling installation portion of their work. The drywall contractor will continue installing drywall on the 2nd floor and start mudding on 2nd floor as well.  The window frames and windows will continue to be installed and the metal panel contractor will continue installing metal panels the east elevation. Hundreds of Taxpayer-Funded US Scientists Likely Compromised by China: NIH More than 500 U.S. federally funded scientists have been flagged over their financial ties with China and other foreign adversaries, the National Institutes of Health has revealed. As of April, the federal health agency has reached out to 90 institutions that receive government grants regarding 200 researchers. It has also removed 100 from the “NIH ecosystem” through resignation, termination, premature retirements, or internal departments, according to Michael Lauer, deputy director for extramural research at the NIH. Lauer said that the biggest challenge is simply “the workload of dealing with a very large number of cases.”
