Broomfield Hospital creates garden to remember NHS heroes | Maldon and Burnham Standard

Broomfield Hospital opened the impressive garden area after four months of planning. The garden was developed by head of hospital grounds and gardens, Richard Hughes and funded through Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity with support from NHS Charities Together and the Captain Sir Tom Moore fund. A tree has also been planted in memory of Capt Tom, who £38.9million for the NHS Covid-19 Appeal. The planting took place on Friday, which would have been his 101st birthday. Richard said it has been a “privilege” to create the garden. He added: “This is an area to remember NHS staff and for all NHS colleagues to visit and feel extremely proud of the work they have done. It’s been a real privilege to help create this garden and bring it to life, celebrating life.”

Triple tree planting at local hospitals in honour of Captain Sir Tom st birthday (Friday 30 April). It’s something being repeated at hospitals up and down the country, thanking Captain Sir Tom for the incredible £38.9 million he raised for the NHS Covid-19 Appeal. Local hospitals have already seen what a difference some of that money has made. Funds received by Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity have meant it has been able to buy patient communication devices to support those who were in hospital and unable to see loved ones. Staff wellbeing has been supported through wellbeing hubs and the continuation of long term initiatives such as counselling services and mental health first aid training. 

Happiness Programme brings joy to residents with dementia and learning difficulties

Happiness Programme brings ‘joy’ to residents with dementia and learning difficulties MID and South Essex Hospitals Charity has funded interactive light projectors for Essex care homes and community hospitals, using a grant received from NHS Charities Together. Three interactive magic tables have been purchased by the Mid and South Essex CCGs, using money awarded to Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity by NHS Charities Together and Captain Sir Tom Moore’s fundraising. They are part of a pilot of 20 sensory tables that are going to be used in care homes and community settings across mid and south Essex. The magic table 360s, project light on to a surface like a table, floor, ceiling or even someone’s bed. People can then use their hands, arms or feet to move through the light, which will then change and move images. They can also interact with a wide variety of music, pictures and games while using the projector. The projector is part of the Happiness Progra
