Florida A&M University is one of 10 schools benefitting from the $10 million TikTok Future Health Heroes Fund to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships for Black, Hispanic and Indigenous students pursuing medical and health care careers.  FAMU and the other participating universities and colleges each will receive $1 million to help ensure students from underrepresented communities have access to educational opportunities in areas such as medicine, allied health sciences, nursing, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and public health.

The TikTok Future Health Heroes Fund selected 10 universities to each receive $1 million to help ensure students from underrepresented communities have access to more educational opportunities.

Orangeburg district allowing schools to hold outdoor graduations

Orangeburg County School District 2021 seniors will once again have graduation ceremonies at their high school football fields with limited ticketing and seating to account for the coronavirus. At this time there are no venues that are really renting out any facilities due to COVID-19 and we are at the point now where we need to start preparing for graduation for this coming June, Ombudsman/Assistant to the Superintendent Dr. Jesse Washington told trustees during their Dec. 8 meeting. Superintendent Dr. Shawn Foster said the district reached out to South Carolina State University about hosting a district-wide graduation event but due to COVID, the university is not renting out its facilities.

The coronavirus pandemic may be forcing a few delivery changes, but community organizations and churches throughout The T&D Region will st… Family Solutions, a program of the South Carolina Office of Rural Health, is the name for an umbrella of services that include Healthy Start, an infant and maternal wellness program, and Nurse-Family Partnership, a home visitation program for first-time mothers. An Orangeburg-based family wellness program will hold its 12th annual Infant Mortality Awareness and Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 13. Healthy Start, which Family Solutions administers along with the NFP, works to reduce infant mortality in Barnwell, Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton and Orangeburg counties. The NFP program serves Orangeburg County.
