It just felt like my office was shaking quite a bit. It was about the longest earthquake I ve felt since living here for 20 years so I thought it was pretty significant, resident of Pleasanton, California Dave McMorrow said when asked about his experience with the recent shaking in Bay Area from the Eastern Sierra earthquake.
A magnitude of 6.0 earthquake centered in between Lake Tahoe and Mono Lake, eastern Sierra Nevada was recorded on Thursday afternoon. The residents in Bay Area were rattled by the feeling of rumble or a wave, as described by them, that felt a little different .
People from across the Bay Area, Concord, Hayward, and Daly City shared videos on the internet of the swinging or swaying of light fixtures and chandeliers.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Aftershocks have hit the region between Northern California and Nevada Friday after a magnitude 6 earthquake sent large boulders rolling into highways and knocked smaller items off shelves.
The quake shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday was centered south of Lake Tahoe near Walker, a rural community of a few hundred households in the eastern Sierra Nevada. It was felt as far off as Las Vegas and San Francisco, authorities said. Days of aftershocks are expected.
California state emergency crews worked overnight and found minor road damage but no significant impacts to infrastructure, said Brian Ferguson, spokesman for the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. No injuries were immediately reported.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 rattled the California-Nevada border Thursday afternoon, with people reporting feeling the shaking hundreds of miles away, according to the US Geological Survey.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake struck at 3.49pm local time in a region about 250 miles (402km) east of San Francisco and south of Lake Tahoe. Its epicenter was four miles (6.5km) west-southwest of Walker, California. It was followed by a dozen aftershocks, with at least one with a 4.6 magnitude, the USGS said.
There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries. A woman in Placerville, Calif., captured the water in her glass shaking as an earthquake along the border of California and Nevada. In Gardnerville, Nev., someone captured images of food on the floor at a grocery store.
The 6.0 magnitude quake struck at 3:49 p.m. in a region about 250 miles east of San Francisco and south of Lake Tahoe. Its epicenter was 4 miles west-southwest of Walker, a California town of fewer than 900 residents. The ground was shaking pretty bad, and then everything started falling, said Carolina Estrada, manager at the Walker Coffee Company. Syrup bottles broke, dishes fell to the ground and the roof of the shop caved in a bit.
