Tokyo Olympic Games basketball prospect Mitch Creek has been stood down from the NBL after being charged by Victorian police.
The South East Melbourne co-captain, 28, has been stood down from the NBL after being charged with assault.
Creek, who is in the frame to play for the Boomers at this year s Olympics, has denied the Victorian police charges.
The 28-year-old has been stood down from playing and training duties after Basketball Australia s integrity unit undertook a preliminary investigation.
Police will allege Mitchell assaulted a woman in her 20s inside her Melbourne home on November 22 last year, according to The Age.
Phoenix swoop to finish second in NBL Cup
South East Melbourne Phoenix have stormed home to finish the NBL Cup competition in second spot following a 103-89 victory over the New Zealand Breakers.
The Phoenix took out all four quarters at John Cain Arena on Sunday to claim a third win in the space of five days and rise above the Brisbane Bullets and Melbourne United, collecting $100,000 in prizemoney as runner-up to the Perth Wildcats.
