The Lockyer Valley Regional Council has paid tribute to the âgifted womenâ incarcerated in prison who crafted the gifts that were handed to the Australia Day Awards winners in January.

Mayor Tanya Milligan who presented the âamazing giftsâ said they were well received and demonstrated the âgreat partnershipâ between the council and the women in the prison.
Southern Queensland Correctional Centre Prison Director Nick Rowe said the prisoners were engaged prior to Christmas to make the items.

QCS Top Dogs crowned
General Purpose dog Tallis and Passive Alert Drug Detection dog Thommo have been crowned QCS Top Dogs for 2020.
The QCS Top Dog winners were announced yesterday, with Townsville Correctional Complex and Wolston and Brisbane Women’s correctional centres scooping the pool in the five part virtual competition.

GP dog Tallis and his handler Ryan wowed the judges with their in-synch, enthusiastic performance in the obedience and agility sections of the competition, while PADD dog Thommo and his handler Scott from Wolston and Brisbane Women’s showed their mettle in the search challenge.
