The roughly $3.5 million facility, located behind the county Law Enforcement Center on the west side of Mason City, will feature a wash bay, expanded garage, sign shop and offices, as well as gasoline and diesel tanks, is a combination of three existing facilities. These include the Clear Lake shop next to the city pool, a sand/material lot on the east side of Clear Lake, and the South Federal Avenue shop. The COVID-19 pandemic put the kibosh on plans for the annual Cannonball Day celebration in 2020, which typically happens the last weekend of June. For 2021, it s full steam ahead on Cannonball Day for organizers, but former Mason City Parks Superintendent and 457 contributor Mark Suby said it ll take some work to get to June 26, which will feature live music and tricycle races.

CG Public Health continuing vaccination efforts The department is offering two more clinics on Wednesday and Friday Posted: Apr 28, 2021 3:02 AM Updated: Apr 28, 2021 12:33 PM Posted By: Alex Jirgens MASON CITY, Iowa - CG Public Health is continuing their efforts to vaccinate residents. 69 people were vaccinated through the department s free, walk-in clinic on Tuesday afternoon, with over 30 people being walk-ins. Tuesday s clinic also saw a large amount of ESL (English as a second language) individuals utilizing the walk-in aspect of the clinic. Going forward, each clinic the department offers weekly will have a walk-in option, with another walk-in clinic scheduled for Saturday, May 8. The department will hold two vaccination clinics at the South Federal Avenue clinic on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9-Noon. Sign up times are listed on their website.
