Margao (Goa) [India], May 2 (ANI): Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) both at the Centre and state for mishandling the COVID-19 situation, Goa Leader of Opposition (LoP) Digambar Kamat said that the only option left with the BJP government is to extend lockdown.
Kamat reiterated his demand to hand over the COVID management to a task force comprising of experts from the Civil Society and the Army. Enough is enough, let us not play with the innocent lives anymore, he added.
Further condemning the BJP government on handling the COVID-19 situation, Kamat said, We cannot rely anymore on the BJP government at the Centre as well as the state who remained in celebrations mode throughout the year without creating any medical infrastructure and services. India Covid crisis: Doctors threaten to strike over attacks patients kin in Goa

With active Covid-19 cases in Goa surging from 1,716 on April 1 to 20,898 by Thursday, doctors are feeling the pressure as abusive and sometimes violent relatives confront them.
“It saddens us immensely that even after giving our best efforts, while being crippled by lack of adequate facilities, oxygen supply, beds, manpower etc. We have been on the receiving end of multiple threats and violent incidents in the past,” said the Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) on Thursday.

Panaji (Goa) [India], April 30 (ANI): In view of the prevailing pandemic situation, examination Hall of Goa Medical College has been converted into a COVID-19 ward and it will have another 150 beds to the overall facility.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said: Examination Hall of Goa Medical College has been converted into #COVID19 ward, that will add another 150 beds to the overall facility.
Sawant and State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today inspected the facility, which will take shape in a record period of time.

Panaji, April 29 : Government resident doctors manning Covid-19 hospitals in Goa have threatened to immediately withdraw their services in wake of continued multiple violent attacks by relatives of deceased Covid-19 patients.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Goa Association of Resident Doctors, which represents around 300 resident doctors working in government hospitals, has also said that hospitals in Goa are crippled by lack of adequate facilities, oxygen supply, beds, manpower . It is always resident doctors who are at the receiving end of abuses for lack of beds and other facilities. The people of Goa need to understand that we have joined GMC as post-graduate students and are providing medicinal services as a part of learning.
