Sinovac Biotech Ltd s vaccine is wiping out Covid-19 among health workers in Indonesia, an encouraging sign for the dozens of developing countries reliant on the controversial Chinese shot, which performed far worse than Western vaccines in clinical trials.

With flight attendants dressed in khaki-coloured tracksuits and a catchy name, Indonesia s new low cost carrier Super Air Jet is betting on demand from tech-savvy millennials in the world s sixth largest aviation market when travel can resume after the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is the first new airline to launch in 10 years in Southeast Asia s largest economy, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands.
But first, it is making clear that it has no links to the country s largest airline in terms of passenger numbers, Lion Air. This even though one of the new carrier s shareholders is reportedly Rusdi Kirana, co-founder of Lion Air Group and Indonesia s former ambassador to Malaysia. Super Air Jet s CEO Ari Azhari is also a former general manager at Lion Air Group.

Apple s sales in Greater China, which includes Hong Kong and Taiwan, almost doubled year-on-year in the quarter ending March, buoyed by strong demand for 5G iPhones and first-time purchases of Mac computers and iPads, said the Cupertino, California-based giant on Wednesday.
Revenue in the region climbed 87.5 per cent to US$17.7 billion, Apple s highest-ever revenue for its fiscal second quarter in Greater China. It accounted for nearly 20 per cent of Apple s global revenue during the period, which included the Lunar New Year holiday.

On April 14, Ana Patricia Non set up a small bamboo cart on a pavement in a Quezon City village, stocking it with 800 pesos (US$16.50) worth of groceries, including vegetables, packs of rice and noodles, canned food, and bottles of water.

Her elder son and daughter-in-law live in Guangdong, and the Covid-19 pandemic stopped her from going to be with them.
Eager to see her baby granddaughter, Tsang got herself vaccinated as soon as she could, receiving her shot of the Chinese-made Sinovac on March 30.
