NCAA for empty platitudes about equal treatment of transgender athletes after the organization put softball tournaments in three states that discriminate against transgender people, including

the Associated Press reported that the NCAA has named schools in Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee as championship host sites for upcoming regional softball tournaments in spite of the fact that all three states have passed bills banning the participation of transgender women and girls in sports consistent with their gender identity. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem filed a federal lawsuit on Friday against the US Department of Interior after the National Park Service denied her request to set off fireworks over Mount Rushmore National Monument on the Fourth of July.
The use of fireworks over Mount Rushmore was indefinitely canceled in 2010 due to the concern that the fireworks could cause wildfires. Local activists have also protested the use of fireworks and have called for Mount Rushmore to be returned to local Lakota tribes. After a decade, the use of fireworks returned last year under the Trump administration.
In the complaint, Noem alleges that the state signed a memorandum last year with the Trump administration and the Department of Interior, agreeing to work toward returning to the use of fireworks beginning in 2020. Because of this agreement, Noem assumed that the request for a permit to use fireworks this year would be approved, but the National Park Service denied the requ

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is supporting SkyWest’s request that the US Department of Transportation re-bid the federal Essential Air Service contracts for the airports in Pierre and Watertown, rather than allowing Denver Air Connection to take over service July 1.
Noem sent USDOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg a letter asking him to reconsider his agency’s decision to give the two-year commercial air service contracts for Pierre and Watertown to Denver Air Connection. That, despite the recommendations of the city government in both towns, Governor Noem and South Dakota’s Congressional delegation that SkyWest’s EAS contract be renewed.
Ron DeSantis Leads 2024 Republican Primary Polling as Florida Governor Lauded for Lifting COVID Rules

A new poll found that most Republicans would support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 primary for president if Donald Trump doesn t run for the nomination.
A survey released Wednesday from the Trafalgar Group found 35 percent of likely Republican primary voters were most likely to back DeSantis to be the party s nominee, the most of any potential candidate polled.
DeSantis has been praised by conservatives for his approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor lifted coronavirus restrictions in Florida before many other states and has become a leading opponent to vaccine passports.
