New Delhi [India], May 3 (ANI): As deaths due to COVID-19 continues to rise in the national capital, frustation among the public is also on the rise as protocols for the contagious disease have been flouted in Ghazipur crematorium.
People at Ghazipur crematorium were upset and angry as COVID-19 protocols were not being followed as the bodies have piled up due to the increased number of fatalities due to Covid-19.
As several crematoriums are facing space shortages, a worker, Om Prakash at the crematorium told ANI, There s no space to keep corpses. The crematorium is fully crowded. Officials are also overburdened.A body has to wait for a minimum of eight hours before it can get a pyre.

Having received no reply from the Delhi government regarding arrangement of firewood to ensure uninterrupted funerals of hundreds of COVID bodies ending up at the city’s crematoria every day, the three municipal bodies have sought outside assistance.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has arranged as many as 3,500 quintals of wood from Haryana Van Nigam for cremations as an exigency measure even as it is engaged in increasing the capacity of funeral venues in its jurisdiction by 50% on a daily basis. The other two civic bodies have made similar arrangements too.

Officials at the national memorial to Mahatma Gandhi have sent dry wood from the Rajghat premises to cremation grounds in Delhi that are running short of wood due to the spike in COVID-19 deaths.

New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): Amid rising COVID-19 cases and deaths in the national capital, all 26 crematoriums of Delhi are inundated with bodies and following the workload, most crematoriums have increased numbers of cremationists or helping hands to four, revising the existing capacity to at least thrice.
The multiplication of workers in the crematoriums in Delhi has been done to keep pace with the sudden surge in funeral pyres caused due to inconceivable gush in the COVID-19 outbreak.

With the sole crematorium located in its vicinity overburdened and forced to function beyond capacity over the last 11 days, another facility intended to be the Capital’s first funeral venue for pet animals will be utilised for the last rites of COVID-19 patients.
This is despite the capacity of the Dwarka Sector-24 crematorium having been more than doubled increased by 140% to be exact between April 19 and April 29 and witnessed the last rites of over 400 people, who lost their lives to the virus.
