The Delhi High Court on Monday imposed a cost of ₹25,000 on South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) for not sending to the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) the requisition of over 1,100 vacant posts of special educators in schools run by the civic body.
“Should the requisition not be sent in two weeks, the Commissioner of SDMC shall file a personal affidavit explaining the reasons and shall be present before the court on the next date of hearing on February 10,” Justice Najmi Waziri said.

The corporation issued a statement saying the SDMC House cleared the proposal in its meeting earlier this week. The rate of cow dung logs will also be less in comparison to wood logs, hence it will be beneficial for people belonging to economically weaker classes, the statement by South Delhi Mayor said.
The SDMC mayor said a few social organisations have extended their support for this.

A stretch of road in Andrews Ganj in south Delhi will soon be named after the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput as the area s civic body has cleared a proposal for it, officials said on Thursday.
Sushant, who would have turned 35 on Thursday, was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on June 14 last year. His fans and admirers took to social media to remember the actor whose untimely demise was followed by a high-profile investigation.
SDMC s Congress councillor Abhishek Dutt in September 2020 had moved the proposal to name the road after the actor.
