The Washoe County Health District confirmed Friday that it will not recommend the use of masks indoors for all people at this time. However, it also warned that things could change if COVID-19 trends continue to worsen to the level being seen in the southern part of the state.
The health district made the announcement in response to the decision by the Southern Nevada Health District to recommend mask wearing for vaccinated and unvaccinated people at crowded indoor public places. The Southern Nevada Health District changed its mask policy following rising case rates and hospitalizations for COVID-19, which is seeing a resurgence due to the Delta variant.

Southern Nevada health officials are asking more people to mask up in indoor spaces – including in Las Vegas casinos.
The Southern Nevada Health District on Friday recommended both unvaccinated and vaccinated people wear masks in crowded indoor public places, according to a Friday statement. This includes areas like casinos, malls, large events and grocery stores.
In Washoe County, health officials said there are no plans to change the mask policy, which recommends people who are unvaccinated wear them while indoors.
“COVID-19 case rates and hospitalizations in Washoe County are much lower per capita than Clark County, so the Washoe County Health District does not have plans for such an announcement at this time,” said Kevin Dick, District Health Officer in Washoe County. “Washoe County, however, has seen a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases occurring over the past week and rising test positivity, so it is certainly not a

LAS VEGAS Masks are back in Las Vegas, after regional health officials on Friday cited a rising number of coronavirus cases and advised everyone vaccinated or not to wear facial coverings in crowds and indoor places.
The recommendation from the Southern Nevada Health District isn’t a requirement. But it affects casinos, concerts and clubs where business has boomed since restrictions were lifted and the state fully returned pandemic control measures to counties about seven weeks ago.
