More options for COVID-19 vaccine soon
Clarification: Public Health is not taking appointments for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Residents will soon have more options for getting the COVID-19 vaccine as more providers are able to administer it.
American Medical Center was the first enrolled provider to get a batch of COVID-19 vaccine, Department of Public Health and Social Services spokeswoman Janela Carrera said.
Public Health provided 300 doses to AMC this week and are working to give other enrolled providers the vaccine once they meet storage and handling requirements for it, she said.
The agency has always had a goal to partner with private providers to provide more options for residents to get the vaccine, she said. Public Health reached out to providers last year who already partner with the agency to give out flu shots to ask if they wanted to provide COVID-19 vaccine shots, she said.
