That’s ahead of the statewide date of April 18th announced by Governor Ralph Northam earlier this week.

Those in higher-risk groups will continue to be prioritized. And officials say anyone wanting to get a shot will need to go through the state’s pre-registration system.

(ROANOKE, VA) Based on the current demand and increasing supply of COVID-19 vaccine, the Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts will begin to invite pre-registered RCAHD citizens in Phase 2 (General Population) to make vaccination appointments next week, during the week of April 5.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A Central Virginia health district is taking a big step forward in the fight against COVID-19. The Chickahominy Health District is now offering up shots to those 70 and older, without appointments needed.
“Appointment really only helps us with planning purposes that we know how much vaccine to have prepared,” said Caitlin Hodge, Chickahominy Health District.

All phases are identified in detail at www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine/. Overlap of vaccination of phases may occur to ensure people in each phase are vaccinated as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Vaccines remain available only by pre-registration and appointment. To pre-register, or to update your pre-registration record, visit www.vaccine.virginia.gov or call 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (1-877-829-4682). English- and Spanish-speaking operators are available. Translation services also are available, in more than 100 languages. For TTY, dial 7-1-1.
“Everyone is encouraged to pre-register, so that when your vaccine is available, you can get it as quickly as possible,” said Scott J. Spillmann, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Pittsylvania/Danville and Southside Health Districts.
