City eyes to vaccinate all private hospital workers March 14

SunStar Photo by Mark Perandos March 12, 2021 THE Davao City Government targets to complete the inoculation of the 2,400 healthcare workers from private hospitals on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Of this number, around 85 percent of them have already received the anti-Covid vaccine as of March 11. Since the Covid-19 vaccination rollout for private hospitals on Monday, March 8, around 2,028 were inoculated with the Sinovac vaccine. The number is about 85 percent of the targeted 2,400 healthcare workers from private hospitals to receive the shots. Davao City Covid-19 Vaccine Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte said that vaccination to all private hospital workers will be completed on Sunday. We have started the vaccination of tertiary hospitals last Monday while the level two hospitals and the other healthcare facilities like infirmaries, small stand-alone clinics, started on Wednesday, Villafuerte said.

In a distribution activity held in Kasilak Gym on Wednesday, March 10, beneficiaries were given meals, cash assistance, food packs, masks, face shields, and medicine packs. The Senator also gave away a bicycle to a selected recipient. Another received a computer tablet for his children’s use in classes as part of their blended learning being implemented in schools. Go also gave away pairs of shoes to other beneficiaries.

105 health workers vaccinated in Davao City roll-out

DAVAO CITY, March 8 (PIA)- A total of 105 health workers from the primary, secondary and tertiary private hospitals in the city turned out initially during the vaccination roll out for the first time at the A. Mabini Elementary School in Bangkal Davao City. Dr. Ashley Lopez, acting city health officer and focal person for COVID-19 concerns in Davao City bared that the experts will use up first the 10,000 vaccines intended for the medical health workers in the city before the delivery of more vaccines from the AstraZeneca.  He said the 10,000 allocated Coronavac- vaccines from Sinovac must be consumed first, before using the AstraZeneca vaccines. 

20,000 doses of AstraZeneca arrive in Davao

SunStar Photo from the Philippine Information Agency + March 10, 2021 AROUND 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 were delivered to Davao Region on Wednesday morning, March 10, 2021, a week after the first batch of vaccines arrived in the region. The Oxford-AstraZeneca s Covid-19 vaccine, allocated by the National Government, arrived around 7 a.m. via commercial flight at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport, also known as Davao International Airport. This is on top of the 33,600 Sinovac CoronaVac vaccines, also allocated by the national government, delivered on March 2 and 4. The arrival of the AstraZeneca in Davao came after nearly 500,000 doses arrived in Manila on March 4, making it the second Covid-19 vaccine to reach the Philippines after the 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine donated by China arrived on February 28.
