A St. Albans man was arrested on Interstate 295 in Portland on multiple charges Tuesday night after driving through a construction zone, Maine State Police said in a news release.
Joseph Simonet, 36, of St. Albans, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, driving to endanger and other civil traffic violations after allegedly driving through a lane closed due to construction.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday evening, Simonet drove a gray 2017 Jeep Cherokee through Exit 5 in Portland, which was closed due to construction. Simonet drove around the cones blocking the exit. A construction worker was in the area when Simonet took the exit where other members were working. Sgt. Chris Farley stopped Simonet’s vehicle.
