The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) has said blood clots identified in a patient who had recently been vaccinated were not linked to the Oxford AstraZeneca covid19 vaccine.
In a statement, the authority said it had completed its investigation after the case was brought to its attention in a media report on April 13.
In the report, relatives of a patient alleged a correlation between the administration of the vaccine and a thrombus (blood clot) suffered by the patient.
“The SWRHA advises that following a preliminary clinical investigation of the circumstances, there is no evidence the patient’s condition is linked to the vaccine,” said the statement. Any report to the contrary, it said, is therefore inaccurate and greatly misleading.”
