Arrest made after three car pile-up on Southampton road

AN ARREST has been made following a pile-up in Southampton.  Police have announced that a person has been arrested following a crash between three cars on Landguard Road in Shirley this afternoon.  The person blew a positive breath test when tested by officers for alcohol in their system.  Police have not identified if the driver is male or female. It comes after police closed  Landguard Road due to a crash between a silver Peugeot, a black Vauxhall and a white Nissan. Fire crews were called to the scene just after 3pm today. A woman in her 30s and a child were extricated from a vehicle by firefighters and handed over to paramedics.

Police enquires ongoing after 13 vehicles damaged in Bransgore

FOREST An ambulance vehicle belonging to Bransgore Community First Responders has been repaired after the wing mirror was vandalised POLICE enquiries are still ongoing after 13 vehicles were damaged in Bransgore, including a first responder ambulance car. The damage happened overnight on November 14 and 15 in Betsy Close, Brookside Road, Elmers Way, Hill Close, Rosehill Drive, Shackleton Square, Shearsbrook Close, and Tyrrells Court. A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: All initial lines of enquiry, including house-to-house visits, have taken place and police enquiries are ongoing at this moment in time to identify those responsible. The wing mirror of the Bransgore Community First Responders’ ambulance car was smashed last month, which meant it was unable to be used to attend 999 emergency calls in the area. The car was parked near Burnt House Lane while the on-call volunteer responder was inside his house.

Assistant producer, 25, on The One Show died in freak accident

An assistant producer on the BBC s The One Show died after getting tangled in a shower hose at a country mansion where he had been drinking with friends during a weekend away, a coroner ruled today. Charlie Mott, described by television presenter Alex Jones as hugely talented, had been taking part in drinking games at the five-bedroom house. Despite only being 25, Charlie was enjoying an illustrious broadcasting career, having previously worked with presenter Graham Norton on his BBC Radio 2 show.  The inquest was told that the Londoner died from hanging but the coroner recorded an open verdict after ruling there was no evidence he intended to kill himself.

Body of woman found following fire in Millbrook flat

Flowers have since been left at the scene. A spokesperson from the force said: We were called by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service at 2.53am this morning (Wednesday, 16 December) to a report of a fire at an address in Chiltern Green, Southampton. The body of a 53-year-old woman was found inside the address.   Her death is not being treated as suspicious and her next of kin have been informed. A file will be prepared for the Coroner. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at 2.50am. Crews from St Mary’s, Redbridge, Totton and Eastleigh fire stations arrived at the scene and were met by Hampshire Police and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).

Fire in flats in Millbrook, Southampton

1/1 EMERGENCY services rushed to a Southampton street this morning after a flat went up in flames.  Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire involving a ground-floor flat on Chiltern Green in Millbrook at 2.50am. Crews from St Mary’s, Redbridge, Totton and Eastleigh fire stations arrived at the scene and were met by Hampshire Police and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS). An ambulance crew and a Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene at 2.51am. One neighbour, who wished to remain unnamed, told the Daily Echo a fire broke out during the early hours of this morning and lots of police officers were in the area this morning.
