Public representatives from village sarpanches to ministers should create awareness among the people about COVID-19 vaccination and on rolling out the doses in the order of priority from January 16, Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender said on Tuesday.
In letters to the public representatives, he said they should become partners and play an active role in organising the vaccination programme smoothly.

Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), Anganwadi personnel and medical and health employees in Telangana would be administered the COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Monday.
It would be later given to police, security personnel and sanitary workers, he said. The government of India has identified Serum Institutes Covishield and Bharat Biotechs Covaxin as the effective vaccines.
We have decided to administer these vaccines in Telangana State, he said after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi s virtual meet with Chief Ministers of various states on the COVID-19 situation and vaccination roll-out and later holding a review meeting here with ministers, officials and district Collectors.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday instructed officials concerned to make all preparations statewide for the Covid vaccination from January 16.
He also said that arrangements should be made to treat people who may develop side effects after the vaccination.
The chief minister reviewed the vaccination programme in the ministers and Collectors conference.
Later, the CM participated in the video conference held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will hold a meeting with all the ministers and district collectors on January 11 and discuss several issues of the state.
The meeting will be held at 11.30 am at Pragathi Bhavan here.
The meeting will discuss several important issues of Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Medical and Health, Municipal, Education, Forestry and other departments and take decisions, according to a statement from Telangana Chief Minister s Office.
As far as Revenue department matters are concerned, the Chief Minister held a meeting recently at Pragathi Bhavan with senior officials and some Collectors. In the meeting, some matters to be resolved were mentioned.

Two more persons who returned to Telangana from the United Kingdom tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and their samples have been sent for genome sequencing to check whether it is a new strain detected in the UK, a health official said.
With this, the total number of UK returnees who have tested positive for the disease in the state has risen to 18, he said.
