Tuesday marked the first day of standardized testing for public schools throughout Texas.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year students had the option to take portions of the STAAR test online. But many online testers across the state experienced a large number of technical issues according to school officials.
In a statement made Tuesday, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) said the issues were completely unacceptable.

To better understand the $52 million bond proposal on the May ballot, Burnet school district voters should look east down Texas 29.
Liberty Hill Independent School District is facing rapid growth and putting a $490 million bond proposal before its own voters in May.
“They’re expecting to double in size as a school district by 2025, and every indication is that growth is going to spill over into Burnet (Consolidated Independent School District) and first going to be at Bertram Elementary,” said BCISD Superintendent Keith McBurnett during his recent State of the District address.

The Texas Department of State Health Services announced the expansion of the pool of people eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine to include school teachers and child care workers, on Wednesday.
Hidalgo County:
In a news release Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortes said after 10 weeks of successfully vaccinating healthcare workers and the elderly, the county will now be targeting educators. This is welcome news as we move forward to begin to safely return to in-school instruction for children.”

You might not expect to find street tacos in a high school cafeteria, but it’s a favorite menu item for Burnet students.
“The kids love this one,” said cafeteria manager Joann Chapa.
But the General Tso’s chicken might beat it for top choice, she added.
