Consolidated to Light up FTTH in Five New NH Towns

– Residents in the New Hampshire towns of Greenfield, Jaffrey, Marlow, Roxbury and Peterborough recently voted to approve the construction of high-speed, fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) Internet networks by Consolidated Communications.
These towns join a growing list of municipalities across New Hampshire and Northern New England that recently selected Consolidated Communications to construct or enhance their fiber broadband network, including Charlestown, Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Goshen, Langdon, Marlborough, Troy and Unity, N.H., and Eastbrook and Stonington, Maine. The town of Temple, N.H., is scheduled to vote on the construction of their proposed Internet network by Consolidated in June.

Consolidated Communications said will be building fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks capable of supporting gigabit speeds in Greenfield, Jaffrey, Marlow, Roxbury and Peterborough, New Hampshire, as residents of those communities recently approved the construction.
Public/private partnerships typically arise in communities where broadband buildout costs are so high that service providers cannot build a business case for deployment. Consolidated has emphasized public/private partnerships as a means of serving these communities.
The announcement, and the fact that townspeople voted to approve the deployments, suggest that the projects will be made possible through public/private partnerships. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. â In April, Google Fiber began offering 2 gigabits per second download speed for residential internet customers in 22 municipalities around Kansas City, Missouri.
The tech giant is the first internet service provider to offer speeds of 2Gbps in the area.
âSo far so good, weâve been really pleased by the response here. People are ready to go fast,â said Rachel Merlo, Google Fiberâs government and community affairs manager in Kansas City.
She met 41 Action News at a home where technicians were installing the new service.
Senate committee budget vote delayed until next week
